Job Description:
Defense contractor involved with product development and
manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and
vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area is searching
for an experienced VP Procurement. With a 50+ year foundation, our
group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies
around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support
many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop
Grumman and Raytheon.SCOPEThis position will be responsible for
defining and managing commodity strategies and sourcing decisions,
while ensuring business supply requirements are satisfied. Ensures
procurement procedures are in compliance with government laws and
regulations, and management objectives. Accountable for all
sourcing performance including but not limited to best value
supplier selection and supplier quality, delivery and cost.The
individual will have demonstrated strong leadership impact while
collaborating constructively with business and functional leaders
to develop and implement breakthrough strategies and results. In
addition, this individual will be comfortable and effective while
interfacing with the executive management teams of large system
aerospace customers and suppliers, as well as Marvin
executives.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a sourcing strategy that meets corporate Operating
Plan and Strategic Plan.
- Select, develop and manage the supply base from a production
process perspective.
- Lead supplier development and address supply issues impacting
cost, quality and delivery. Manage supplier transitions.
- Ensure that our supply base has sufficient capacity and
flexibility to meet all business demand.
- Direct material purchasing, leveraging one relationship with
suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounts payable
performance.
- Lead the use of advanced procurement strategies such as VMI
initiatives
- Manage Aerospace indirect procurement spend and supply
base.
- Drive consistent direct and indirect sourcing policies to
achieve corporate cost and spend objectives.
- Execute capital purchases, capitalizing on the volume and spend
benefits.
- Manages Procurement Department of about 50 employees that
includes 3 direct reports.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTSRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10 years of leadership experience.
- 10 years of relevant procurement experience in the aerospace
and defense industry.Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to quickly adapt to differing leadership styles across
multiple customer business teams and suppliers.
- Ability to drive change resulting in a higher level of
consistency across teams and an elimination of non-value added
activities.
- Ability to present complex technical and support issues at peer
and executive levels (internal/external customers).
- Experience with organizational development; building and
leading the organization to the next level of maturity.
- Ability to identify risk, develop mitigation concepts and
deploy actions to implement plans.
- Ability to develop and rapidly implement effective strategies
based on having strategic experience/background.
- Ability to work across multiple programs and functions to
create standardized service solutions.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain process in aerospace, manufacturing,
operations.
- Visionary with strong motivational skills.
- Strong analytical, financial and program management
skills.
- Demonstrated competency in Six Sigma tools. Six Sigma or
Greenbelt trained/certified.
- Strong customer & executive communication and influencing
skills.
- Experience managing and leading multi-faceted, cross-functional
teams.
- Track record of deploying successful Management Operating
Systems.
- Experience in leading and supporting teams/
