DMED Technology Design is the unified design org for 90+ customer-facing websites/apps and hundreds of enterprise products in the Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) Technology organization. We are the storytellers responsible for adding "something special" to our consumers' experience every day through exciting design, artwork, branding and UX globally. We are responsible for driving the product design, user experiences, creative direction, production design, motion design, service design, UX copywriting, UX research and UX engineering. It is our job to create a framework that delivers consistent, creative and innovative user experiences for people - whether they are using Disney's consumer-facing products, or the platforms, products and tools that help power our business. Crucially, how we do that work must be both imaginative and efficient, allowing us to also free our team devote energy to using design to drive innovation. The consumer portfolio we get to design for includes many of the most trusted and beloved brands in the world - ABC, ABC News, Disney, ESPN, Freeform, FX, Marvel, National Geographic and Star Wars. These are great products, and our charge is to always imagine ways to make them even better; to deliver happiness and magical moments through artistry and inventive design, reinforcing the emotional connection between consumers and Disney's brands. The enterprise portfolio we are responsible for is also critically important - and our colleagues, partners and businesses will be relying upon us to bring the same kind of imagination, ease and consistent excellence to those experiences.Design Services: The DMED Technology Design Services team develops the fundamental building blocks and insights that activate a brand's identity, purpose, and expression and enable best-in-class product experiences across the complete user journey. This mission includes the continued development of our Content Creative team which includes Production Design, Motion Design, Visual Design, and UX Copywriting as well as Service Design, UX Research, and UX Engineering teams. We are a multi-disciplinary design team where you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with many design groups and specialties to create innovative products that people love to use.Job Summary The Manager, Design - Service Design leads Service Design team and will be responsible for managing and mentoring a multi-disciplinary design team. S/he is passionate about the craft of tying together human, digital, and physical interactions overtime to create a truly differentiated experiences for our users across all of DMED's productsResponsibilities:Roles & Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for managing, leading, inspiring, and growing a team of Service Designers
  • You will provide day-to-day design leadership for your team that builds a shared understanding of the holistic user-centric intersection of human, digital, and physical interaction
  • You will use design thinking to understand people's needs, look holistically at consumer interactions, and constantly iterate user journey forward
  • You will learn to design moments that people will remember
  • Your service work sets an example that all designers want to follow
  • You will be a design activator, working to deliver vision and strategy that balances revolutionary framework projects along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates to realize a more extensive vision
  • You will operate as a point-of-contact on service design initiatives for both consumer facing product design and enterprise design team as well as cross-functional partners
  • You will be expected to partner with a variety of teams, inspiring confidence that your team will deliver compelling services that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed on timeBasic Qualifications:As an applicant to this role, we ask that your portfolio demonstrates:
    • 7+ years of relevant industry experiences, of which 3+ years of management experiences
    • You have led and inspired a team of service designers
    • You have built differentiation, loyalty, and long-term business value by meeting users' needs and exceeding their expectations
    • You understand the interactions people have with brands/products and surface problem areas and opportunities through a user journey map
    • You can focus your efforts by choosing the most impactful moments to design
    • You have project planned and to deliver excellent services/solutions on time
    • You have a broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories, and practices of design
    • You have been proactive in bringing together groups of individuals to solve a problem and enable others to understand and execute your vision with a service blueprint
    • You are hungry for innovation, eager to challenge the status quo
    • You can communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
    • You have managed stakeholders and set priorities
