Job Description Job Description SUMMARY The Regional Director of
Facilities is responsible for the regional oversight, execution,
and performance management of facilities operations across assigned
healthcare facilities, including acute care hospitals, outpatient
clinics, and administrative sites within a defined geographic area.
This role serves as the primary facilities leadership presence at
the regional level , ensuring day-to-day operational reliability,
regulatory readiness, and timely delivery of facility projects that
directly support patient care, safety, and hospital operations. The
Regional Director acts as the operational bridge between on-site
Facilities leadership and Corporate Facilities strategy,
translating enterprise standards into consistent, compliant
execution at the facility level. DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
Regional Facilities Operations Provide direct oversight of
Facilities operations across assigned hospitals, outpatient
clinics, and administrative sites within the region. Ensure
continuous, reliable operation of all building systems, including
electrical, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and life safety systems.
Monitor facility conditions and proactively address maintenance,
repair, and infrastructure needs to minimize operational
disruption. Serve as the primary regional authority for
facilities-related operational decisions. Regulatory Compliance and
Survey Readiness Maintain ongoing readiness for CMS, CDPH, Joint
Commission, NFPA, OSHA, and local authority surveys. Conduct
regular facility rounds, environmental inspections, and compliance
reviews. Coordinate corrective actions, remediation plans, and
documentation related to physical plant deficiencies. Support
hospitals during surveys and regulatory inspections as the regional
Facilities lead. Capital Projects and Regional Implementation
Oversee regional execution of capital projects, renovations, and
infrastructure upgrades. Coordinate contractors, vendors, and
internal teams to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project
completion. Monitor project scope, timelines, and quality,
escalating risks or issues as appropriate. Ensure construction
activities are safely integrated into active clinical environments.
Leadership and Staff Management Directly manage Facility Managers,
Engineers, and regional Facilities personnel. Establish clear
expectations for performance, accountability, and professional
conduct. Ensure appropriate staffing coverage, on-call rotations,
and trade skill alignment across sites. Support training,
credentialing, and professional development of Facilities staff.
Safety, Risk, and Emergency Response Ensure regional compliance
with life safety plans, emergency preparedness protocols, and
utility management requirements. Participate in and support
emergency response related to facilities incidents, outages, or
infrastructure failures. Coordinate with hospital incident command
and leadership during emergencies affecting the physical plant.
Promote a culture of safety and risk awareness within Facilities
teams. Financial Oversight and Vendor Management Manage regional
Facilities operating expenses within approved budgets. Review
vendor performance, service contracts, and work orders for quality
and compliance. Validate invoices and coordinate with Accounts
Payable to resolve discrepancies or payment issues. Support
cost-control initiatives while maintaining operational and
regulatory standards. Communication and Coordination Serve as the
primary Facilities liaison for Regional CEOs, hospital leadership,
and Corporate Facilities. Provide regular updates on facilities
performance, risks, and project status. Escalate critical
operational, regulatory, or safety issues promptly through
appropriate channels. Ensure consistent application of corporate
Facilities policies and procedures across the region. Other
Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned to support
organizational, operational, and regulatory objectives.
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management,
Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related
field preferred. Candidates without a degree must provide proof of
enrollment in a relevant program and obtain the degree within 36
months of hire. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership
experience in healthcare facility management, including multi-site
responsibility. Strong knowledge of hospital building codes,
infection prevention standards, and environment of care
requirements. Proven track record of managing large-scale capital
projects and renovations in a healthcare environment. Certification
in CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager) or FMP (Facility
Management Professional) strongly preferred. Excellent
communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency with CMMS systems and facility analytics tools.
